Ginger, your New Best Friend

Ginger has been used for thousand of years to cure stomach problems. This is without a doubt, the most powerful Gastritis remedy — for me that is.

How should you take it?

Drink it
Ginger teas work great to soothe burning sensations and upset stomachs. You can either make your own tea by cutting a small piece of raw ginger (half the size of your thumb or more) and pouring boiling (or hot) water over it. One of my favorite tea brands is Rishi. I love big tea bags with real pieces of ginger, fruit or whatever tea flavor you choose. Rishi has several herbal teas with ginger. One is with Turmeric, which is also excellent for the stomach and health in general. One is plain ginger. These teas are definitely on the pricey side but to me, if it works and it’s really good, it’s worth it. Good health is priceless.

To make sure I get to have ginger every day, lately, I’ve started my days mixing up a piece of ginger in my blender with organic Matcha powder, ice and water. I love Matcha (which happens to also be extremely healthy — full of antioxidants) and find this new drink very efficient and tasty! You can add a drop of almond milk if you’d like a more creamy consistency. My favorite almond milk brand is Califia Farms that I find at my local Whole Foods Market.

Buy a grater if you do not already have one and start sprinkling ginger on veggies before you sauté/steam/bake them. Ginger also works great on fish, meat and other proteins.

Update 11/05/16: I’ve now had blended ginger root in my tea every day for almost 2 months now and my stomach has never felt better. I highly recommend this for those also suffering from Gastritis, IBS and bloated stomachs.
